I'm no TomD, but I just received these last Friday, and thought I'd share a picture of one. I really like the totem design.

Nice, how much they set you back?

$13.40 each, plus shipping, from Teletrade Direct. Currently about $14.25...

Your Eyeship, you will make an excellent understudy with TomD.

Pleasing coin and photo!! BTW, what was on the back:questionm

You know what they say, there is always two sides to a coin....

IINM the picture is the reverse.
The obverse depicts the typical Hag-On-A-Maple visage but it does include a small litle totem and the words 2010 Olympics, again IINM.
I could try my hand at photographing it?

I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of cleaning your image up a little, mostly just changed the color balance. I think it's a very good shot.

I like the coin too, I'll have to get a few of those.

Apmex is ticking me off!
My most recent batch of GIM rounds arrived with most of the plastic torn and the coins falling out and every single one of the rounds looked like it had been drug across a concrete surface on BOTH SIDES.
Now, I dig out my new maples to try my hand at a shot and see that each and every one has big-ass fingerprints from the kludge who put them in flips. I got these specifically to keep as pieces of art, untouched by human hands. Guess I'll have to find a sealed mint roll to get that.

The shot is terrible (too little light and motion blur, no tripod, sorry) but you can still see the damned fingerprint just fricking fine. Makes me wish I'd never pulled it out of the flip, I previously thought the print was on the vinyl.

Nice fix, Tom, thanks for the clean-up job! I don't mind one bit. Did you work in RGB or CMYK mode? Looks like you dropped the cyan/blue some; what else did you do?

I really like these coins. I was able to pick 10 of them up for $13.26 shipped on E-Bay.:s1:

Now they seem to be settling out for @$15, even in lots of 100 (4 rolls). That's getting a bit rich for my blood.

I use photoshop elements. There is a screen shot below of the tool that I used. It's called "levels" and it is made to work on color balance. It's easy to use, you find it by selecting the "enhance" drop down then "lighting" then "levels". That gets you to the screen shot. See the 3 little eye droppers on the bottom righ of the tool? The left is black level, middle gray, right white. With your shot all I had to do was identify a part of your photo that was supposed to be white. I clicked on the right eye dropper and then clicked on the neck of the totem. All done. I could have gone further but I wasn't certain that you didn't want some blue in the result.

On more complicated shots with full color, I'll sometimes play with all 3 controls. Below is a shot of my Sister's dog on which I adjusted the color a few days ago. Usually the result is MUCH more subtle than with the coin, you have to compare the shots closely to tell the difference.

What image program do you have?

I use Photoshop CS3 (the full monty version). Actually, I work as a prepress technician in the commercial printing industry, and I do/have done graphic design work on the side, but I suck at color correction. I could have nailed it better if I had spent a little more time on it, but I was adjusting curves, rather than levels, in CMYK mode (as a printer, I think in CMYK, rather than RGB!). I like your fix better...

SLV>GLD: try using a microfiber cloth to gently remove the fingerprint.
